Yarn manufacturers are the magicians who create the colorful threads we in turn use to knit sweaters, scarves and cuddly blankets. These skilled workers toil to produce the yarn we love. We will now consider the process involved in the making of yarn.
Our t shirt yarn at Lucky Textile do hard work as these yarn people. They select the best fibers and spin them into yarn. Every step is meticulously checked to produce soft, strong, and pretty yarn.
The process of making yarn is incredibly long. For starters, the fibers — such as wool, cotton or acrylic — are cleaned and then blended to create the ideal mixture of materials. The fibers are then spun into yarn of varying thicknesses and textures. Finally, yarns are dyed in multiple hues before being twisted into balls or skeins for sale.
Yarn making has been around for ages, but makers these days have new machines to aid them. Spinning machines automated what had been a laborious process of making yarn, while computer systems coordinate the dying of each skein just so. And, despite having these new tools at their disposal, many producers still use traditional methods to create one-of-a-kind textures and patterns in their yarn.
At Lucky Textile we are planet friendly and practice sustainable manufacturing, as a generation, work towards a more sustainable environment. Not only do our blanket yarn use organic fibers and natural dyes to protect the environment as little as possible. We generate our own renewable power and recycle water in our overdyeing process for beautiful yarn that’s easy on the earth.
One of the most fun aspects of yarn making is the interesting culture and techniques found all over the world. Each culture has its distinct patterns, from the specific Fair Isle patterns of Scotland to the bright colors found in Mexican yarns. Our yarn producers keep developing their skills by studying these tradions.
